Over the Christmas holidays we haven't been able to film because of the camera not being available, so instead we have been planning in detail what we are going to do, this will help us when it comes to filming.

Research and Planning: Anamatic Storyboard Feedback

When we played our anamatic story board to our group, and this is the feedback we received.

Research and Planning: Audition script

For our auditions, we are going to get each possible actor to read this short monologue:

Patrick: There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed. My pain in constant and sharp and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape.

This monologue is from the film American Psycho, which sticks with the theme of our horror. Despite this being a male monologue, we are going to use this for both males and females who are auditioning.

Research and Planning: Features of a film poster

This is a film poster which I am going to look at the features of.
Steel Tongues font at the bottom with everybody involved in making it.
Film names are compulsory on a film poster.

The date for the film release.
 The main picture.
The slugline of the film.

Research and Planning: Audience Feedback via Twitter

I tweeted this in hope of some of my peers responding to help me choose my Make-up.

Make-up 1: this one got 3 Favorites.

 Make-up 2: This one got 5 favorites

Make-up 3: This one got 4 favorites.

Research and Planning: Audience Feedback via Facebook

I put this onto Facebook because I decided I wanted some audience feedback on my make-up.
On Make-up 1 I got 4 likes.

                                                          On Make-up 2 I got 4 likes

                                                        On Make-up 3 I got 13 likes

It is clear from doing this that Make-up 3 was the most popular, despite not being my favourite. I am going to put the same photo's on twitter to see what the reaction is on there.

Research and Planning: Product testing.

I have decided to take pictures on the products I used for the make-up shots, this should help me when I come to re-doing the make-up for real.

White Face Paint: I used white face paint all over her face to make her look pale, to maybe suggest she isn't well, been locked up or maybe even dying?

Brown Eye-Brow Pencil: I used a brown eyebrow pencil to make her features look more defined for when I take the final pictures.

Black gel eye-liner: This is my old eyeliner so I used this rather than my new one because it makes your eyes look a bit messy rather than a thin sleek line, I thought this would help darken the eyes and make the actor look rouged.
Smokey Eye Palette: This is again, my old smokey eye Palette, I used this because the only colours left in the palette are dark ones, which came in useful for shading around her eyes, her cheekbones, her forehead and on the sides of her nose. I did this to again make her features look much more defined, to maybe give the effect that she is gaunt.
Fake Blood: I used fake blood for the the last makeup test.

Duct Tape: I was going to use masking tape for this, but we only had duct tape at my house, but I think it worked better as it is black rather than brown.

Research and Planning: Test makeup

I decided to do some make-up on my little sister to practice for my film poster/magazine cover. The actor whose make-up this will be on will be male not female but she was the only person I could find to do it. I have taken pictures of 3 possible make-up trials.

Research and Planning: Magazine Cover Lines

When looking at our magazine cover, we needed to find cover lines to add on to our magazine. I used WordItOut to create some ideas.

Research and Planning: Harry Potter screenshots

I have watched a film trailer (Harry Potter obviously) and decided to screen shot some of the features and shots which I really liked.

All Film trailers need to have an MPAA Message so I print screened this anyway.
I really like this shot of Voldemort because of the angle it is shot on, the picture shows that its him, but you cannot see his full face or what condition he is in from the last film. So it is a good way of hinting but not showing the full shot, this is really good for a trailer.

This shot is a lot like the last one of Voldemort, it focus's on Harry's eyes, like an eyeline match but because its the trailer it doesn't show the full shot. It also doesn't show his full condition.
This is a really good establishing shot which is the kind of shot we are going to be using in part of our trailer.
Although this shot can never be replicated due to our storyline and budget, I really like the shot, because of the action in it and the colours.
This birdseye shot of the Dragon in Harry Potter is great, I really want to involve an eyeline shot in my trailer.

This is a brilliant shot of Harry and Voldemort, which again can't be replicated but I really like.
I like how Harry is in a shot on his own a lot throughout the trailer, showing that he is the main character, I would like to do this in my trailer but I can't due to the story line.

This shot again, of Harry on his own really makes him look like a hero. The facial expressions, background, makeup and costume really portrays the full scene, and thee ward (ooh) portrays the full film. This shot is one of the last shots in the trailer and represents Harry in such a brilliant way.

This heading for Harry Potter is brilliant. I like how the background isn't boring and black, it is clouded which relates to the theme. I print screened a little bit early but seconds after this a lightning bolt appears leaving "The Deathly Hallows Part 2" underneath the title.

Research and Planning: Film poster analysis

I said that I like these two posters in my last post when I was looking at horror films at Cineworld.

I really this film poster for 'Elfie Hopkins' because I like how in the picture there is an obvious main character and then two of the other characters within the film. Because I have 4 main characters, it wouldn't work as well but I do like the idea and I will be trying this out. I also like the low key lighting because it reflects the film genre.

I really like this film poster because of the main character and the fire effects at the bottom. My horror film wouldn't go well with the fire idea because its irrelevant but I like the idea of using just one character on the book. I also like the low key lighting, with highlights on her face and the red towards the bottom, it draws my attention towards it out of the two posters.
