Research and Planning: Film magazine analysis

The genre of this magazine is a film magazine, and in particular, a horror magazine. I know this because of the film language used on the front cover and the actress as the main picture.
The genre of this film is horror, I can tell this because of the blood on the girl, I can also tell this because of the shadows on the girls face.
The narrative to the film is unclear just through this picture, but what is clear is the fact that she has obviously come into some danger along the course of the film, whether it be her being the 'bad guy' or the 'damsil in distress'.
The high key lighting in the picture suggests that she is quite an innocent person, this is also shown through the white background. But the shadows under her eyes, nose and mouth make her look slightly more evil, along with her serious facial expressions.
The target audience for this magazine is aimed at younger people(16-35) in my opinion, and obviously people who enjoy watching horror films. The masthead is red which shows danger, and blood. It is also an unusual font because instead of it being overly scary, it is more retro and picselated.
This magazine has a banner along the top of it, along with a barcode, issue date and price. These are the features which show it is a real magazine.
The 3 colour rule applies in this picture, as the main red blue and back colours are used throughout.
The picture is a medium close up, this allows the reader to see the blood on her shirt and on her chest. There is a main cover line which goes with the picture and then other smaller cover lines to show other stories in the magazine. The font on this magazine is 'Impact' and is used on the full page.
